Dialectical behavior therapy helps keep patients with borderline personality disorder out of the hospital

Patients with borderline personality disorder make greater use of inpatient psychiatric services than patients with other personality disorders. A recent study [link read more] found that DBT was found more effective than treatment-as-usual in reducing self-harming behavior. Patients who received DBT were less likely to use inpatient services during the 12-month treatment period and during the 6-month period following treatment.
