Michael Tompkins
Michael A. Tompkins, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist (PSY 13822), a founding partner of the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy, Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and a Diplomate and Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Tompkins specializes in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders in adults, adolescents and children. He is the author or co-author of numerous articles and chapters on cognitive-behavior therapy and related topics, as well as four books, My Anxious Mind: A Teen’s Guide to Managing Anxiety and Panic (with Katherine Martinez) (Magination Press/American Psychological Association, 2009); Using Homework in Psychotherapy: Strategies, Guidelines, and Forms (Guilford, 2004), a book and videotape series (with Jacqueline B. Persons and Joan Davidson), Essential Components of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy for Depression (American Psychological Association, 2001), and Digging Out: Helping Your Loved One Manage Cutter, Hoarding, and Compulsive Acquiring (with Tamara L. Hartl) (New Harbinger, 2009) which is praised as a seminal work on the topic of compulsive hoarding.
