Suzette Glasner-Edwards

Suzette Glasner-Edwards, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at the University of California, in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and completed her post-doctoral education at University of California at San Diego and the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System, where she received specialty training in the use of evidence-based psychotherapy in the treatment of addictions and related psychiatric conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders. Her psychotherapy practice includes adults, couples and families, and draws on the most well-studied therapy techniques for a range of conditions.

Dr. Glasner-Edwards has published extensively for the professional audience, and she teaches scientifically based psychotherapy techniques to psychologists and psychiatrists in training at UCLA. Her scientific research portfolio, funded by the National Institutes of Health, focuses on developing and evaluating behavioral treatments for addiction and related problems, including depression, anxiety, and stress. Her research studies focus on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational therapy approaches, such as motivational interviewing (MI), and mindfulness based treatments. With funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, Dr. Glasner-Edwards is also currently developing and testing mobile health-based therapy programs that leverage cell phone technology to help those with addictions and chronic medical conditions to adhere to their medication regimens, prevent alcohol and drug use, and improve overall health and well-being.
